At once Jack² picked up the nearest beehive and threw it at the hurrying soldiers. 杰克立刻拾起了最近的蜂箱，扔向了匆忙奔跑的士兵。

Then he ran like the wind to the place where Old Bay³ was hidden. 然后，他像一阵风一样地跑到了枣红老马藏身的地方。

Oh! What a time there was! The angry bees flew at both men and animals. 噢！好一阵乱啊！一时间，愤怒的蜜蜂飞向了人群和动物。

The poor horses, in pain from their stings⁴, ran this way and that, kicking and jumping. 可怜的马匹被蜇得很痛，它们四处奔跑，又踢又跳，

The excited pigs and cows and chickens joined in the noise. 而受了刺激的猪、牛和鸡也加入到了混乱之中。

The British soldiers ran wildly about, falling over each other as they tried to beat off the stinging⁵ bees. 英国士兵疯狂地四处奔跑，有的想去赶走那些蜇人的蜜蜂，结果却撞到了一起。

"Run for it, men! Run for it!" shouted their captain. 兄弟们，快跑！快跑啊！队长喊道。

Then down the road they ran as fast as they could, with the angry bees flying about their heads. But they were too late. 然后，他们沿着大路飞快地奔跑，愤怒的蜜蜂随着他们，在头上飞舞。但是他们太迟了。

For while they were fighting with the bees, Jack had jumped upon⁶ Old Bay's back and hurried away to tell the American soldiers where the British were. 就在他们与蜜蜂混战的时候，杰克跳到了枣红老马的背上，匆匆地跑到美国士兵那里，报告了英国人的位置。

In a few moments the American troops⁷ came flying along the road — led by a boy on an old bay horse! 不一会儿，美国士兵沿路飞奔过来，而领路的是一个骑着一匹枣红老马的男孩。

So it was that the brave young American boy found a way to help his country, even though he could not join Washington's army. 这就是一个年轻而英勇的美国男孩找到的帮助自己国家的方法，尽管他没有加入华盛顿的军队。

For it was Jack with his angry bees who had really caught the four hundred British soldiers. 正是杰克和愤怒的蜜蜂真正困住了那400个英国士兵。
