BBC news with Mary Small.

The United Nations has announced plans for a task force to deal with the worldwide rise in food prices. At a summit of international agencies in Switzerland, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon said the immediate1 priority was to find enough funds to feed the hungry. This report is from David Loyn.

There was no doubt in the sense of emergency at the UN meeting. The head of World Bank Robert Zoellick says what the world is facing may not be a natural disaster but it is still a disaster. And the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon says there is a risk of social unrest on an unprecedented2 scale. He is to head a task force to come up with solutions in the medium term and is asking the richest countries for urgent funding of food aid now. Mr Zoellick said there'd been many pledges, but pledges do not feed hungry mouth.
