英美人开始约会很早，大概16，17岁就开始了。我们常说的姑娘十八一枝花，在英语里则是“sweet sixteen”。如果双方感情固定，就可以说成是"go steady"。如果只是普通朋友，就只说“he's just a friend”。在国外，这类的约会都是正常的。要是一个孩子到了16，17岁还没约会过，就被视为异类了。
