  M: We planned our wedding for next May.

  W: Why so late? Didn’t she want to get married this October?

  M: Yeah, I did. But my fiancée has an important project.

  W: That’s really a shame. By the way, who will be the bridesmaid?

  M: Julie’s friend, Mary. And John will be the best man.

  W: Wow! I’m very excited about your ceremony.

  Pat5 was going to get married. One day, after she finished the wedding gift list, she showed it to her parents. Her dad thought she had been a little extravagant6. “Well, to be honest, I really think you’ve gone over the top here. When we were young, your mother and I we never needed any of these things, like television, radio, CD player, computer or microwave. We just made do. “But you said the other day that you could not live without your television.” Pat said. Her mother said, “I do agree with your father in some ways. But I really feel that is rather nice for new couples to have a little bit of comfort when they get married.
