Taking a look at the satellite now, a trough over central Western Australia is generating thunderty showers and will extend over South Australia. A broader region of low pressure over Northern WA. The Top End, Gulf¹ Country and Cape² York Peninsula is producing thundery showers. A trough over South Australia and Victoria is / hot air from inland. Looking around the country now, in Queensland, showers along the coast with possible thunderstorms in the north. Hot in the west. Mild in the east.

To New South Wales, gusty³ winds along the coast. Very hot in the west and north. A very hot day across Victoria with temperatures forecast up to 44 degrees in the west. And breezy northerly winds throughout. A dry day throughout Tasmania with high temperatures in the north and remaining warm in the south. Cloud will increase in the west as the day progresses. A very hot day across South Australia with southerly winds strengthening later. Showers and storms are expected to develop over much of the state later in the day. Over to the west now, storms likely in the north and east of state with gusty winds in the south and west. In the Northern Territory, very hot in the west. Mild in the east. Storms and showers will be widespread across the Top End.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s forecast for the capital cities now. Brisbane, a possible shower. Sydney, fine and windy. Canberra, hot and sunny. Melbourne, hot with showers developing. Hobart a late shower there. Adelaide and Darwin, a possible thunderstorm. And mostly sunny in Perth.
