Deng Lun first rose to fame last year after appearing on the popular romantic drama Ode to Joy 2 (《欢乐颂2》).

Although it was the 25-year-old actor's first time acting⁴ in a fantasy period drama, he didn't find the fight scenes to be difficult. He said it was the more emotional⁵ scenes that were harder to deal with. “Heartbreaking scenes can be hard for actors, as they need us to express strong emotions that viewers can see and feel,” he told NetEase Entertainment.
