Why do we shake hands? Why don't we shake feet? A long time ago,
most people carried knives or guns9. When people did10 not want to
fight11, they showed their empty hands. Maybe people shook12 hands so
they could13 not hide14 knives in their sleeves15. Later16, hand-shaking
became17 a sign of peace18.
 
 
Today we don't have to worry about people with guns and knives but we
still shake hands a lot! The reason3 is simple19 --it's still a sign of friendship20.
